| I'm a huge fan of reality shows. The most
| |
| | forefront of technology and mp3's are the
|
| recent one I've been following is
| |
| | format of choice. So why aren't there
|
| Rockstar INXS - the show which follows
| |
| | more channels available to the Asian
|
| the super 80's Australian band, INXS, and
| |
| | markets?So, what did I end up doing? I
|
| their search for a new lead singer. If you
| |
| | did what MSN support told me to do, visit
|
| haven't seen it, it's a great show, the
| |
| | other regional MSN sites like Singapore
|
| music and performances are incredible
| |
| | and Australia to see whether I could find
|
| (blows American Idol or any Idol show out
| |
| | the music there. I found music but not
|
| of the water). The other great thing
| |
| | the Rockstar songs from the show I was
|
| about this show is that the voting
| |
| | looking for. Getting a little frustrated
|
| (everyone gets to vote for their
| |
| | and agitated at the fact they really
|
| favourite singer) let's people all over
| |
| | didn't want to make money off me by
|
| the world vote for their favourite singer
| |
| | making it EXTREMELY difficult for me to
|
| where most other shows restrict
| |
| | buy from them. After all this, there is a
|
| interactions to American audiences
| |
| | point I'm trying to make (actually two
|
| only.Of course, after each show is over,
| |
| | points):I'm sure the artists and the
|
| the music is available to download from
| |
| | producers of the show could have made
|
| the MSN music site. So, after hearing
| |
| | double, three times maybe even ten times
|
| some great music, I quickly logged on and
| |
| | the sales they made if they made the song
|
| went straight to the MSN music site and
| |
| | downloads available to the rest of the
|
| decided to PAY FOR the music downloads. I
| |
| | world or at least to the other markets
|
| was more than happy to contribute and
| |
| | that the show was playing in (i.e.
|
| give these deserving artists what they
| |
| | Australia, Philippines, Hong Kong, etc) -
|
| deserved. But guess what? The music
| |
| | Lesson to be learned: Don't make it
|
| downloads are only available to US
| |
| | difficult for your customers or potential
|
| audiences! I quickly contacted MSN
| |
| | customers to buy from youPiracy and
|
| support, "Where can someone outside of
| |
| | intellectual property infringement IS a
|
| the US buy this music?" They quickly and
| |
| | problem in Asia. However, it could be
|
| politely replied and said that it is
| |
| | less of a problem if companies would
|
| presently only available to the US market
| |
| | understand that a normal person in
|
| but music will be available in other
| |
| | Mumbai, Bangkok or Beijing isn't going to
|
| markets later. Later? How much later? The
| |
| | pay (or afford to pay) US$20+ for a CD.
|
| shows already over!Look at iTunes, that's
| |
| | On the other hand US$0.99 per song
|
| only available to US, Canada and the UK
| |
| | download sounds reasonable and most
|
| as well. What about the rest of the
| |
| | people could afford that, assuming they
|
| world? It's kind of strange when I hear
| |
| | had internet access, but without a
|
| complaints about the piracy problem in
| |
| | reasonable access channel to these
|
| Asia, not to say there isn't, but
| |
| | affordable alternatives where else are
|
| companies aren't helping themselves if
| |
| | they supposed to go to satisfy their
|
| they don't make legitimate copies
| |
| | demand?
|
| available from the right channels. Where
| |
| | Wayne Po is the founder and publisher of
|
| else are consumers supposed to turn to if
| |

|
| they have no legitimate outlet to buy
| |
